Understanding communication
What , Why and How ?
What is communication ?

The act of sharing or exchanging information Started at the very origin.
Why we communicate ?

Humans evolved from simple hand gestures to the use of spoken language. To express there need with each other , to inform other and for social bonding.

How we communicate ?
Early human race started communicating with each by signs , visuals , sounds later it evolved into language.

Being universal designer , i wanted to understand the modern day problems related to communication with the democratic mindset.

In the process communication
Encoding and Decoding is the
Area of focus .
What will be the future communication needs will be ?
A universal UI , Which will make the
communication a inclusive for all .

Acheiveing universal UI is a bigger task , in the process of acheiving universal ui i aimed at creating concepts and ideas which will be a tools of universal ui.
Understanding the existing technologies and concepts which will meet the speculative design needs :

MIT researchers have developed a computer interface that can transcribe words that the user verbalizes internally but does not actually speak aloud.

North American engineers also came up with a slick, wearable device with holographic images that follows a user’s hand to signal incoming calls and messages. Users simply turn their palm upward to receive messages, flip their wrist outward to send and bring their hand to their ear to take a private call.

Alias is a teachable “parasite” that is designed to give users more control over their smart assistants, both when it comes to customization and privacy. Through a simple app the user can train Alias to react on a custom wake-word sound, and once trained, Alias can take control over your home assistant by activating it for you.

The MEM, also from UK engineers, saves experiences and allows users to share memories with others throughout life. As more memories are made and stored, intricate patterns begin to form on the outside surface, a metaphor for the creation of our brain’s neural networks.

Dr. Hawking used assistive technology to compensate for mobility and speech difficulties. He used a thumb switch and a blink-switch attached to his glasses to control his computer. By squeezing his cheek muscles and "blinking" an infra-red switch was activated and he was able to scan and select characters on the screen in order to compose speeches, surf the Internet, send e-mail and "speak" through a voice synthesizer.

It uses holographic projection and gesture detection with an added virtual layer of information and avatars. Second Sight lets users see the world in a whole new way through touch screens and holographic displays to make the communications experience more interactive.

By 2033:
– Communication could be ambient, always on, and people could live online
– Computers and mobile devices could be embedded in the ordinary
– “Using Software” could vanish; only interface and human interaction would remain
– Device interaction could become natural, predictive, and fluid.
– Molecular manufacturing could revolutionize production
– Objects could access ‘The Cloud’ at will.
Ideas Sprinting for Universal UI

Speculative design

I positioned the above Pool of probable ideas in a timeline of future.
Time lining the ideas for Universal UI

Use scenarios :

Traffic noise
Stress, distraction, and reduced concentration due to loud and chaotic traffic noise.

Political campaign
Intrusive and overwhelming campaign speeches or advertisements, causing annoyance and distraction.

Construction noise
Disruption of peace and quiet, leading to irritation and decreased productivity for individuals nearby.

Travel noise
Fatigue and discomfort from continuous exposure to loud noises during travel, affecting overall well-being.

Awarness in road
Risk of accidents and lack of situational awareness when wearing headphones, especially in busy or hazardous environments.

Listening
Difficulty achieving a state of calmness and relaxation due to external noise disturbances, hindering the meditation process.
