Sanitation is one of the cornerstones of the Prime Minister's agenda, The Swachh Bharat Mission, aimed at eliminating open toilets, was Prime Minister Modi's first major programme in 2014. By the end of 2020, over 99% of rural households were to have access to a toilet and most villages in India's cities were to be free of open toilets, over 100% of the target had been achieved.

Sitting - Western

Sitting toilets are often referred to as "western-style toilets". Sitting toilets are more convenient than squat toilets for people with disabilities and the elderly.

Squatting - Indian - Turkish

A squat toilet (or squatting toilet) is a toilet used by squatting, rather than sitting. This means that the posture for defecation and for urination is to place one foot on each side of the toilet drain or hole and to squat over it.

Generally, families live in a group. Since all age groups from young to old live in a common family in many cases both in rural and urban areas, the choice between Indian and Western toilets varies from person to person and age to age.

The disadvantages of the Indian squatting toilet are eliminated in the Western sitting toilet. And in summary each toilet type as its own advantages and disadvantages and as preferred for persona with different abilities.

Contextualizing the single Indian toilet using families [From the data Swachhbarath mission] There is need to address the disadvantages in using the Indian toilet .
