Overview
Survilo is an Application with AI-based monitoring and defense system that can recognize human gestures, body postures and movements and respond to a threat action. It addresses existing security concerns and market needs by providing holistic home security and defense.
Context
CRIME AGAINST ELDERLY LIVING IN METROPOLITAN CITIES in 2021
A total of 26,110 cases were registered for committing crime against Senior Citizens (aged above 60 years),
showing an increase of 5.3% in registration over 2020 (24,794 cases).
PROVIDED BY NCRB(National Crime Records Bureau) FOR THE YEAR 2021
Proving Raju’s concern over elderly safety in Indian Cities, National Crime Bureau’s data also shows that there is 5.3% increase in elderly crime in the year 2021 over the year 2020.
In order to provide design solution for Raju’s problems and many others’ who wants to ensure the safety of their loved ones, it is important that we understand about why VICTIMS are being vulnerable & why OFFENDERS are motivated to do what they are doing and other social models causing this rational choice against the elderly citizens. So lets deep dive!

With the increasing migration of people to different cities and towns in search of jobs and other opportunities, the number of elderly parents living alone in their homes has also increased. As their home is an easy target, they are more vulnerable to crime. This could be prevented if appropriate measures are taken.

Bangalore
Mr. Saamy lives with his wife in Bangalore. The couple lives alone in an flat building. Once when Saamy went outside, he found his wife, who was suffering from low blood pressure, in an unconscious state. When he arrived, he asked neighbour to help take her to the hospital. Saamy says the incident made him reluctant to leave his wife alone.
Rajeshwari, 60
Coimbatore
Rajeshwari lives with her husband in Coimbatore. The couple lives alone in a individual house. Their son lives abroad. Rajeshwari was told ,recently by a relative that someone snatched her necklace and that she is afraid to go out of the house when she hears such stories. She is also worried about her elderly mother who lives alone in a farmhouse in their village.

Chennai
Mr. Joseph , a retired teacher, lives with his wife in Chennai. When told about a burglary in his house, he said the culprit entered the house through the back door and tried to snatch money and jewels from his wife, and when the burglar saw Joseph coming, he ran via the backdoor while Joseph was shouting for help.

CONTROL PANEL
The control panel is the computer that arms and disarms the security systems, communicates with each installed component, sounds the alarm when a security zone is breached
DOOR AND WINDOW SENSOR
When a door or window is closed, the two parts of the sensor are joined together, creating a security circuit. Should a monitored door or window suddenly be opened, the security circuit is broken and the control panel interprets this as a breach of a secured zone.
MOTION SENSOR
These security components, when armed, protect a given space by creating an invisible zone that cannot be breached without sounding an alarm.

Surveillance cameras can be accessed remotely on computers, smartphones, and tablets. They are often used when homeowners are out of town
HIGH DECIBEL ALARM
High decibel alarms send a burglar running while also notifying nearby neighbors of the situation
VIDEO DOOR BELL
Video doorbells have a built-in camera to help protect your home from theft and burglary. You can receive activity alerts, talk with visitors using two-way talk, and live stream video from your smartphone.
PROS
Most of the existing systems comes with professional and personal monitoring .
Arming and disarming allows users to control their security preferences.
Available feature to connect with other smarthome devices including home assistants like Alexa, google assistant etc.,
Existence of surveillance systems itself reduce burglary drastically as burglars hunt for easy targets.
Gives peace of mind to the owner .
CONS
None of the systems are reliable in case of friendly entry by the offender.
Manual Arming and disarming can backfire if the attack happens when the system is disarmed.
Lack of automation and innovation. All security system works with similar principle.
Installing multiple components like sensors, cameras, Alarms are hard to track and maintain.
Most of the systems are costly and cannot be afforded by all.
Most of the systems are compatible only in the country of their origin
False alarms occur creating unnecessary panic.

SCENARIO DESCRIPTION: An elderly couple living alone in an individiual house in urban city of Bangalore, were targeted by Labourers who were working in the nearby construction building.

Day 1: Saturday Noon: 2’o clock
Two laborer knocks the door of Mr.Shantharam asking for water. After checking in application his wife gives them a bottle of water.
Day 2: Sunday Noon: 2’o clock
Same 2 laborer knocks the door of Mr.Shantharam asking for water the next day.
After checking in application,
knowing that they are the same person, His wife Malliga opens the door while Shatharam was
asleep in the bedroom.
Malliga left the front door to fetch the water.
Laborer were finding this the right time to attack Maliga
One of the laborer tried to threaten Maliga with the Knife.
Noticing the threat gesture and weapon the alarm goes blaring
Automated SOS Initiated in the background.
As a last stage of defense the tranquilizer hit the offender.
